The Musical Goerges Seuratôs Life Essay - 612 Words
During the time an artist is working on his/her product, there are several issues that may come up to either hinder or advance the progress he/she makes. This prompts an artist to either make a balancing act, or to sacrifice one aspect of his life for another. Additionally, some artists are inspired by personal experiences in their private and professional life to write a particular piece of work. A classic example is Georges Seuratââ¬â¢s life where he could not afford to accord his mistress the attention she sought from him to the point where she had to leave him and marry another man. Sunday in the park with George is musical that illustrates the struggles that Georges experienced as an artist while doing his paintings. The musical followsâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The doctor by the name Eugà ¨ne Delamare died as a result of his second wifeââ¬â¢s (Delphine) actions. From observing this development in Gustave Flaubertââ¬â¢s work, one can clearly see that the events in the writerââ¬â¢s personal life influenced his choice of story about Emma Bovary (Dudley, 2010). It is also noteworthy to mention that Gustaveââ¬â¢s father wanted Gustave to become a doctor, something that Gustave was against. Therefore, it is possible that he saw a reflection of how his life could have turned out had he followed in the footsteps of his father. In Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, the author used some of the lead characterââ¬â¢s life story to reflect her own personal story. Such an example is shown by the fact that the female characters in the novel are hinted as to be engaging in lesbian affairs and later in her life Virginia Woolf had a lesbian relationship with Vita-Sackville-West. This is an indicator of the fact that while certain artists may write for pure entertainment and information, there are some who choose to write about their real life accounts. When penning the play Hamlet, Shakespeare was experiencing a personal loss that involved his own son Hamnet, who was only 11 years when he died (Dudley, 2010). Most scholars believe that the personal tragedy and loss of his only son might have moved him into writing the tragedy based on the grief he

Soon the confidence started building in me and spilled over into my gymnastics career. I have been doing gymnastics for ten years and I had never had an injury until I was 15. Competing on the vault, I threw my skill and landed short. This caused a contusion to the ligaments in my ankle and a hyper-extended ACL. After having to miss multiple competitions, I was cleared to start competing again. With only one meet left before the State Championship, I was forced to throw my basic skills to stay in the game. Soon after though, I was at the State Championship and competing all four events better than ever. The adrenaline from being out of the gym so long hit me at just the right time. I finished the meet and received the gold medal on floor exercise. I qualified for the Regional Championship which was two weeks away. It was my first time coming off an injury and I was competing in what felt like the Olympics. Surely I didnââ¬â¢t belong there. Regardless, in the end I earned my spot at the top of the podium. Towering over everyone, I was the first place Regional Floor Champion. Performative Culture Taiwan Pride
In gay culture the Gay Pride parade has come to represent performative culture that is both a political act and a personal celebration for lesbians, gay men and trans individuals the world over. The Gay Pride parade offers lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and trans persons the opportunity to be out and proud, visible in the community and achieving legitimacy in the political and public realm.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Performative Culture: Taiwan Pride specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In countries where lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and trans do not receive the same degree of rights and privileges as heterosexuals, or experience intimidation, threats or discrimination in the workplace or in the public sphere, the Gay Pride parade remains particularly relevant. In Taiwan, organizers instituted the inaugural Gay Pride parade in Taiwan beginning in 2003 and called it Taiwan Pride (Taiwan Pride n.p.). Since the resc inding of martial law in Taiwan in 1987, various social movements have transformed the features of Taiwanese political culture as well as daily life, including ââ¬Å"a workersââ¬â¢ and a student movement, feminist organizing and lesbian activism have begun to create alternative cultural spaces and to affect public policies and perceptionsâ⬠(Sieber 20). According to the Advocate, ââ¬Å"Taiwanââ¬â¢s gay men and lesbians walk a tightrope between fighting for civil rights and staying within the governmentââ¬â¢s comfort zone. Among mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, only the latter has legalized gay sex, and that was done before the United Kingdom handed control over to China. According to various news reports, the number of Internet gay porn sites is exploding across the region and officials are not cracking down. There is a sense among gay men and lesbians that they can come out to family members but still cannot do so in publicâ⬠(Galliano and Lisotta 83). Ac cording to the Asian Lesbian Network, lesbians in Taiwan still encounter significant personal obstacles as individuals (Sieber 22). Organized as a group, lesbians in Taiwan enjoy ââ¬Å"more public leverageâ⬠¦[and] as individuals, [they] can affirm and consolidate [their] own sexual and social identityâ⬠(Sieber 22). Despite the advances made in Taiwan, according to the Asian Lesbian Network ââ¬Å"it is still incredibly difficult to be an open lesbian. For one thing, we are constrained by family expectations. We are supposed to be devoted to our parents and most parents cannot help but see lesbianism in a negative light. So most families donââ¬â¢t know about their daughterââ¬â¢s lesbianism. As a student, you are financially dependent on your parents, so you cannot really afford to alienate them. And when you work, you could be fired or harassed by your superiors or co-workersâ⬠(Sieber 22).Advertising Looking for essay on ethics? Let's see if we can help yo u! These include ââ¬Å"passing straight at work but being out with friends, public oppression vs. private pleasure, or the seeming contradiction of multiple political commitments. The recognition and working through of conflict is a process that is essential to political and personal growthâ⬠(Becker 36). The visibility that Taiwan Pride affords gives Taiwanese lesbians an opportunity to integrate these disparate selves and march as whole individuals. As a performative culture, Taiwan Pride underscores the need for ââ¬Å"the expression of selfâ⬠¦against the dominant ideology,â⬠and provides a suitable forum for this expression (Becker 35). As an oppressed communityâ⬠¦Taiwan Pride offers Taiwanese lesbians an opportunity to ââ¬Å"create positive images both to o ffer the new self identity and also to combat the negative stereotypes promulgated by the dominant cultureâ⬠(Becker 35). Similarly, the same positive images created and expressed during the march at Taiwan Pride ââ¬Å"cannot be cut off from the societal pressures that created the original stereotypes or the conditions that maintain themâ⬠(Becker 35). The year 2003 was a major break through for the lesbian community in Taiwan. According to the Advocate, the Taiwanese government ââ¬Å"boldly suggested changes to a human rights law that would allow for same-sex marriage and adoption by gay and lesbian couples. The proposals didnââ¬â¢t pass into law, but it was a watershed legislative moment for any Asian countryâ⬠(Galliano and Lisotta 83). The 2003 parade attracted more than 20 000 participants by different gay from organizations from all over the world as well as Asia; the main march was held in the city of Taipei on November 1 and represented the first of its k ind in the Chinese community. Later on, the success of the event motivated the gay community located in Hong-Kong to organize a parade of its own (Taiwan Pride n.p.). The 2003 march received funding from the city of Taipei, and nearly 500 people came together in the streets of Taipei ââ¬Å"brandishing rainbow flags and pushing strollers to show support for the governmentââ¬â¢s move. The mayor of Taipei stressed that gays and lesbians wouldnââ¬â¢t suffer harassment by the municipal government. Although many marchers wore masks to protect their identity, hundreds walked openly in front of camerasâ⬠(Taiwan Pride n.p.). Lesbian groups located in Taiwan believe that Taiwan Pride remain crucial to the communityââ¬â¢s well being, ââ¬Å"especially in the wake of a highly publicized raid on a bookstore that sold gay adult magazinesâ⬠(Galliano and Lisotta 83). Kao Yi-chao, one of Taiwan Pride organizers, understands that in ââ¬Å"places like the United States and north ern Europe, gays and lesbians are able to be much more open than in Taiwanâ⬠¦we want to let the public know about our rights as homosexuals and increase discussionâ⬠(Galliano and Lisotta 83).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Performative Culture: Taiwan Pride specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Each year since the first march in 2003, Taiwan Pride has increased its size and its political import. In October of 2007 Taiwan Pride was held again in the city of Taipei and attracted 15 000 participants who marched under the slogan Rainbow Power (Taiwan Pride n.p.). Taiwan Pride is very different when compared to other Pride parades in different countries as it ââ¬Å"remains predominately for social and community gay and non gay movement, with just minorà advertisement joining inâ⬠(Taiwan Pride n.p.). 2007 marked the first time a corporate sponsor participated in the parade when swimsuit manufacturer Aus siebum sponsored a float known as Waterboy who modeled the swimwear (Taiwan Pride n.p.). The other unique aspect about Taiwan Pride is that ââ¬Å"participants share the street with bikes, bystanders and cars and subject themselves to regular traffic managementâ⬠(Taiwan Pride n.p.). The Taipei Times reported that the 2007 Taiwan Pride marked the largest Gay Pride parade to ever occur in Asia, ââ¬Å"which demonstrates a growing awareness of the marginalization of these groupsâ⬠(Taipei Times 8). In 2009 and 2010, the advocacy group Taiwan LGBT Pride Community announced thatà ââ¬Å"the parade has exploded in numbers,â⬠as Taiwan Pride attracted 25 000 and 30 000 participants respectively (Taiwan Pride n.p.) Bad Management Essay Examples - How to Avoid Plagiarism
Bad Management Essay Examples - How to Avoid PlagiarismIn order to avoid plagiarism and bad management essays, writers should do their homework and find the right essay examples. Many students plagiarize as a result of going over other writers work, or simply copying someone else's ideas. But in order to prevent this from happening, writers should take the time to find the best examples and use them correctly. The first step in finding management essay examples is to look at the different types of examples that are available. There are many kinds of examples, and writers should look for the ones that are specifically related to their topic. For example, if the topic is a self-improvement, then writers can look for examples that relate to this topic. One of the best ways to find management essay examples is by looking for them in an online college class. Many classes in college contain a list of reading materials that students can choose from, and this will help writers find examples fo r their own school paper. The same idea applies to online tutoring sites, where students can take one of the reading guides and compare it to their own essay.Students also have the option of looking for management essay samples at various business libraries and bookstores. Often, writers will be given a sample assignment to follow, and sometimes this sample is as simple as writing an article and reading it to other writers. Other times, there may be different rules to follow when choosing a sample. In most writing for businesses, students must choose a sample from the very beginning of their career, since they will spend the majority of their time doing research before working on their own assignments. Another way to find good examples of management essay examples is to check the information found in a writing guide. These guides often have sample essays in one of their sections, and it is easy to search through this section for information on where to find management sample essays.W riters should also take the time to write a good essay, rather than using samples from the beginning of their career, as most students do. Students should also avoid the temptation to copy someone else's sample. Not only is this unfair to the writer, but it will leave the writer's career in ruins when his or her thesis advisor discovers the student stole someone else's work.Another issue with stealing sample essays is that it is illegal. College students and young adults can get into major trouble if they are caught plagiarizing, and there is a good chance that they could lose their opportunity for college. So, students should not let the fear of being caught deter them from following sample essays, but instead should see the process as an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience.Students should look for a variety of management essay samples, which can include everything from a textbook example to a blog post. They should be careful not to copy examples that are not specifically written for their type of writing. Writing a good essay is hard, but it can be done, and doing it wrong will only hurt the writer.
